Of all the things I’ve done during my career, including software developer, customer support rep, manager, and even accountant, the thing I was always most passionate about was training – both course development and delivering live training. I’ve taught classes on how to use database software, management skills, building trust, and most recently, storytelling and presentation skills. Seeing the proverbial light bulb come on when people understand something new and watching people get excited about what they’re learning is exhilarating. There’s nothing like it!
I have been active in Toastmasters International for over seven years. In August, 2014, I earned the title Distinguished Toastmaster, that organization’s highest level of achievement. That means I have given over 50 speeches (just in Toastmasters) and over 100 evaluations. Besides Toastmasters, I have served as Master of Ceremonies or keynote speaker for numerous professional conferences and awards banquets.
Clearly, I’m passionate about excellent communication skills. I’ve researched and studied many of the highest-regarded leaders in the field. I firmly believe that no matter what you do, both on your job and in your personal endeavors, you will be more effective with excellent communication skills. Being a good communicator is the ultimate transferable skill!
While I was still in my corporate job, I became a sought-after instructor for presentation and communication skills as well as management skills. Since leaving, I founded Presenting for Excellence. My goal is to show you how to prepare and deliver presentations that people will pay attention to, remember, and act upon. My original workshop, Presenting for Excellence, has received rave reviews from attendees every time it has been presented. I can work with you to adapt the workshop to your organization’s specific needs.
I am is available as a speaker, Master of Ceremonies, or instructor. I’m also happy to give interviews, participate in panel discussions, or write guest articles. To inquire about scheduling me for your event, please use the contact form below.
Also check out my other project, Retire Fabulously! I publish articles and resources that will help you envision, plan for, and ultimately enjoy the best retirement possible. I have a fun, interactive workshop on that topic, as well.
Aside from all that, I love music (especially jazz and Brazilian music), and I play trombone in some local bands. I live with my husband Jeff and Missy, the world’s smartest and cutest Yorkie-poo, in the suburbs of Phoenix, AZ.
